How To Wear It: Burgundy

It's no secret that burgundy is "the" color for the fall. The question is, how do you wear it?

Add a splash of burgundy with a gorgeous bag. LOVE this Celine tote!

Pair the pretty color with an olive green top or jacket

A burgundy pump is on the top of my wish list for the fall!

Keep it simple in all black with the addition of a burgundy blazer

Trade in your neon colored jeans for a pair of these beauties

And for those of you still on the fence about the color, try easing into it with a burgundy nail polish
How do you feel about this color trend? Will you be wearing it this fall?

Style Crush

When it comes to guilty pleasure television shows, I watch more than I'd actually like to admit. Some do include the numerous Housewives of...and of course Guiliana and Bill, and most definitely Gossip Girl.

Although there are no new episodes right now, The Style Channel (I know, kind of embarrassing I know this) has now been replaying episodes of GG every Wednesday night for THREE hours straight!  I may or may not have watched an episode or two last week, and am never disappointed with Serena's (Blake Lively) wardrobe. The wardrobes on this show, even the older episodes, are knock out however Blake's is by far my favorite on the show and off...

Do you love her as much as I do?

Dream Closets

Unorganized. I know, I have said it again and again. This is a constant issue for me and my closet. I hang up the clothes, put away my shoes, belts, and accessories where they belong (yes, I do actually have a proper spot for almost everything) and then two days later things are a mess...again. Can someone please tell me they can relate?

I've tried the clothing racks, and the shoe shelves, and even an accessory table, so perhaps I just need to come to terms with the fact that I am a little bit of a mess? At any rate, this yet again, mess of my office/closet has me wishing and hoping for an over the top organized closet...

Embracing the last week of summer...

Happy Monday, friends! I hope the weekend was wonderful! We had a great time back at home, however I think our pup had the best time out of anyone swimming in the pond, and running around my parents acreage. She is feeling much better! Such a relief!

Last night, on our drive back home, I noticed the sun going down much earlier than it has been. Every year this seems to be my little reminder that summer is coming to an end. With Labor Day upon us and the summer winding down we should...

Enjoy the warm evenings and do something fun outdoors! An outdoor movie? Yes, please!

Embrace our little summer skirts and dresses...

Make time for a few trips to the beach...
Take a second to admire the pretty flowers and greenery(at least those of us in the midwest)

What are some things you guys are hoping to squeeze in before the weather starts to cool down?

Have a great week!

Road Trip

Happy Friday, everyone! I am so happy the weekend is just around the corner! What do you guys have going on? I am excited because I will be heading back home for an annual party my parents throw. Looking forward to seeing family and friends, and relaxing with a little wine and some yummy food.

This week's Friday's Fancies is "Road Trip," which is very appropriate for me since I will actually be doing this tomorrow. When I know I am going to be in the car for an extensive period of time, there are three things that top my list of importance. Comfort, cuteness, and warmth. It seems as though B and I can never agree on the temperature in the car, so I always grab a sweater or jacket just in case. The cuteness factor is also an issue, which means you will rarely find me in a pair of sweats. My outfit will probably look something more like this...

Wishing you all a lovely weekend!

Shabby Chic

I have been working in the city the past couple of days and I have to say, it  has been a breath of fresh air from the burbs, which is a little ironic, I know. If you are not familiar with Chicago, let me give a little run down on the different areas of the city. So we have the downtown area of course, and then a hand full of cute little neighborhood areas. I happen to be working in the Lakeview neighborhood.

This area along with the other neighborhoods are full of mom and pop restaurants, wine bars, mixed in between cute coffee shops and adorable boutiques which I of course love. As much as I adore all of these great perks of the area, the thing I admire the most, are all of the old beautiful brownstones. They are full of charm and character, and I find myself missing my little brownstone that I lived in for the first year I lived in Chicago. The vintage white crown molding, the cozy sitting nook that overlooked the street, and the stunning wood floors were among my favorite, very shabby chic...

Mixing and matching older and newer pieces is one my favorite ways to decorate, which is why I think shabby chic is one of my most beloved decorating styles. Are you guys into shabby chic decor?

Hope your week is going well!

Threadflip

If you guys are anything like me, you probably have numerous items in your closet that are sitting there with the tags still on them. Or maybe you simply have things you no longer will wear but aren't quite ready to send them to Goodwill. I have a solution for you. It's called Threadflip. If am the last person on earth to know of this site than I apologize, however when I recently stumbled upon it, I could not get over how smart it is.

Here is how it works. You sign up and are basically given your own "shop" where you upload the pieces you are wanting to sell. Clothing, shoes, handbags, accessories included. You then price the item at whatever you feel is appropriate, they do take a small percentage, however it does not cost anything to post your pieces. Once something is sold, Threadflip sends you a box for the piece, which you when send back to them. They handle the actually shipping to the buyer.

Another option is to "flip" things with other "shops" which is kind of fun! In my opinion, they have done a great job at creating the idea to be more than just a site, but more of an interactive community, where you can actually "follow"other shops to be certain you don't miss out on any newly uploaded items. I just signed up, now all I have to do is clean my closet and figure out what I want to sell! Here are some items I am currently swooning over...

Ark and Co Dress
Chaiken Jacket
This simple, vintage black dress. Would love this with a pair of black tights and boots for the fall...
I am a sucker for all things polka dot!
Rebecca Minkoff Bag
Hope the day is going well!

Calming Blues

Hi guys! How was the weekend? Again, our weekend was spent mainly at home with our pup, good food and good wine included.

Our pup has required a great deal of attention as of late because of the cancer. Many nights have been spent camping out on the floor to make sure she is feeling okay through the night, and many hours have been spent making her homemade food including meatloafs, egg casseroles, etc. I swear she is eating better than B and I!

Although it has been somewhat exhausting, she is such a sweet girl, and SO beyond worth all of the effort and energy. With all this said, I am in the mood today for all things calming and nothing says calming to me like an assortment of pretty soft blues, which I am completely lusting over lately.

Love this entry way. So sweet and calming. May be a potential wall color somewhere in the house? What do you think?

Hope you all have a great week!
