Chic at the Beach

Friday, again?! Thank goodness, but I swear the weeks seem to fly by! Hard to believe that June is almost over and The 4th of July is quickly approaching. With all of the holiday activites that will surely be taking place, having a "beachy chic" theme over at Friday's Fancies today, seems very appropriate.

Tunic: Pucci// Swimsuit: Jcrew// Shoes: Lulus// Bag: Topshop// Towel: Billabong
I REALLY want that swimsuit!

As much as I love the Pucci Tunic above, I am not incredibly fond of the price tag. I think my H&M long tunic will make due for my upcoming days at the beach/pool. Happy weekend everyone!

Stay Cool

It is 100 degrees here today in Chicago, and I am in need of something cold and tasty to cool me down! I came across these gorgeous little homemade popsicles and think I may need to give them a try, VERY soon. Have any of you made homemade popsicles? How did they turn out?

Pink Lemonade! Recipe here
These guys would be the perfect 4th of July treat if done in strawberry and blueberry. Here is a video on how to make them.
Mango and Strawberry! Yumm! Find the recipe here

Easy and Breezy

With another heatwave right around the corner, my wardrobe is in the mood for light and airy chiffons, and soft and calming whites and pastels. Nothing is more uncomfortable, than a tight pair of jeans in 100 degree heat. With that said, the next couple of days I am going to opt for flowy, soft, and light colored pieces. What is your wardrobe looking like with the heat? Easy and breezy like mine?

And fingers crossed for a beach day sometime soon...
Hope the week is going well!

Our Home Lately

As I have mentioned before, we are in a little bit of an interior design transformation in our home lately. New furniture in the living room and a new look to our mantle! What do you think?

Now on to the kitchen! I have a bare wall that is awaiting a pretty little chalk board that B and I can write down little notes to one another on through out the week, grocery lists, etc. Do you have a chalk board that is actually used in your home? Or is it something that is there and never gets touched?

Blue and Lime

Happy Friday, my friends! This week's Friday's Fancies theme is color block! While we were in Vail last month, I visited The Blue Jean Bar. They had way too many colored jeans there to choose from, but I ended up decided on a fun lime green color. Because the lime is SO bright, I like to pair them with a pretty blue to even out the tones a little bit.

How I wore them in Vail last month! It was a little chilly while we were there, hints the scarf and blazer!
Have an amazing weekend, everyone!!!

Lusting Lately

This Skirt!
These Shoes!
This Room! So pretty!
And this bicycle with the basket! I dream of the day, I can head to the farmer's market on my bike and return with a basket full of goodies...I am not sure why...it just sounds fun!

Happy Thursday, everyone! The weekend is almost here!

Also, a special thanks to Brittany, over at Belle epoque, for nominating The Jem Journal for the Liebster Blog Award! I so appreciate it!

Hallway Decor

Yesterday, our living room furniture finally arrived! You know, the grey couch and the peacock colored chairs I've been obsessing over for the past two months? It looks gorgeous, and I am so happy with it. We are still waiting on the ottoman and the rug, but when these pieces come in I will be sure to share some images.

Now that the living room is almost complete, I have one more project. The hallway! As of now it is a little bit bare, so I am on a search for some ideas...

What do you think? Do I do a console with a mirror? Or maybe something less conventional, and go with a tall mirror with two tables on either side, similar to the image above? I need help!

Jem Bridal + What to Wear Wedding

With wedding season in full swing, Jem has created some gorgeous bridal headpieces. These and other "Jem Bridal" will be available at The Jem Boutique soon, however pre-orders can be emailed to me at morgan@thejemboutique.com

Here is a sneak peek!

Now that the bride is covered, lets talk about the guests. I sometimes feel like getting dressed to attend a wedding can be somewhat of a challenge, depending on how formal or casual the event is. Let's discuss a few scenarios...

The Garden Wedding

I LOVE this dress from Top Shop. It's a great option for a less formal, garden wedding. Although the dress is a little bit on the casual side, it is still equally stunning with that one-sided sleeve. Pair this with a pretty wedge sandal and a long necklace and you will be perfectly dressed for the garden.

The Formal Wedding
I think this dress is gorgeous. The color of the dress adds an element of fun to a simple and elegant piece. Throw on some nude pumps with a statement earring and you are formal wedding ready.

The Beach Wedding

This printed, chiffon dress, screams beach wedding to me. It's flowy and light, making it an easy and pretty piece to wear. Add a wrist full of bangles with a cute sandal and you are on your way to the beach.

Do you have any weddings you are attending this summer? What are you wearing?

The Weekend and a Little Daydream...

Hello and happy Monday! How was your weekend? Ours was busy, but great. Friday was spent in the city with friends and the remaining part of the weekend was spent back in Iowa with my family for Father's day.

I can't tell you how much I enjoy going back home. I love fishing in my parent's pond, having a few wines, and just enjoying a little time with my family. Growing up, most Father's Days were spent up at the lake in Northern Minnesota. And I have to admit, between the fishing, the amazing weather, and time spent with my family, this past weekend has left me yearning for a family lake vacation. My hopes are that we can get back up there this summer, but in the mean time, a little daydreaming of a nice day at the lake may have to be good enough.

A perfect "day at the lake outfit," in my opinion!
Now lets go back in time...
I would like to pretend that I am on the boat taking this picture again...
Cruises to dinner are the best! This particular cruise years ago, we forgot the ropes to tie up the boat...my dad knows how to improvise! That's his belt. Happy belated Father's Day, Dad!
The prettiest sunsets are at the lake.
How was your Father's Day weekend?

Lusting Lately: Summer Hats

It's no secret, summer is here. Warm temperatures, and bright sunshine, means one of many things to me. Hats! Not only do I love the protection they offer from the sun, but I REALLY love how a cute summer hat looks.

What do you guys think? Are into a big summer hat?
