First Birthday Gift...

I've been on a search for a cute gift for my little cousin who just turned one. We don't have any babes of our own yet, so buying gifts for the little ones is always a fun thing for me! So the question is...what would a one year old boy actually enjoy? After doing some searching and seeing that a friend just purchased one for her guy...it was a no brainer. Who wouldn't love a teepee/hideout spot to play in? I actually wouldn't mind a grown up version of one these babies...

After hmming and haaaing and finding out that brown is a consistent color through out the house, I pulled the trigger on this one. Kind of a hybrid between and teepee/tent.

An Attitude for Gratitude

After a fun weekend trip to sunny California, it can be challenging to find the beauty in a winter snow storm! Can you relate? Instead of getting down about it, a couple of my girlfriends and I have started a group gratitude text message forum (basically just an ongoing group text) Here we share what we are happy about each day, and what we will be grateful for in the future. We sometimes include images of whatever it is we are grateful for, as well as things we are yearning for.

I have tried to do a gratitude journal in the past, and it seems that I start out strong and gradually stop writing in it after a few days. With this gratitude text message group I feel I am accountable for contributing as often as my friends are. Or in some instances my obligation (in a good way) to kick them off for the day. As a result I really am finding more joy in my every day journey and find myself looking forward to things that I want to come my way in the future.

So with all of that being said...if you are feeling a little case of the winter blues, or even if you are completely happy and content, I totally and completely suggest starting a group and see how rewarding it can be for yourself!

Lately...

Hey guys! I apologize for my absence. Running my own boutique is a little bit more time consuming than I had imagined! I am happy to be back and look forward to more regular posts.

Aside from the store, we managed to sneak away last weekend for an orange county get away. It was amazing! We stayed at The Resort at Pelican Hill. It is an incredibly beautiful property! If you are considering heading to Newport for a vacay I would suggest this place to you over and over again. You will love it!

Friday Outfit:Winter Brights

Happy Friday, friends! Can't tell you how relieved I am that the weekend is just around the corner. We have some friends who are coming to town...looking forward to catching up with them over a glass of bubbly! I think my outfit today in itself, expresses my excitement...VERY bright and happy! Can never go wrong with a bright pink and mint combo, no?

California Love

Hey guys! How was the weekend? Our weekend away was great, and my packing was actually a success! I will admit that I did stop by BCBG for a few things...60% off was way too tempting to not! The weather was unfortunately not as nice as we had hoped, however didn't let that ruin our fun. We did get one afternoon of sunshine that was spent on our friends balcony with live music and cocktails...

 



As you can see it did end up raining a fair amount of time, so what else is there to do but have a few afternoon cocktails! Have you ever had a Moscow Mule? Pure deliciousness! If you are in San Diego be sure to stop by The Salt Box for one of these babies...



 

There is a place in La Jolla called seal beach. Tons of seals hang out there, generally soaking up the sun. I love watching them, especially when there are a few baby seals in the mix. SO cute!

 

I am always a bit sad to leave this place and can't help looking forward to our next visit! I will say though, that it is good to be home and back in the swing of things. Hope the start of your week has been well to you!

A California Weekend...

 

Tomorrow night, I am heading out to one of my favorite places...Southern California! As much as I am looking forward to going, my dreaded task of packing is still upon me. I have done a couple preliminary rounds already so it should be better than usual. I am however, attempting something I've never done before...Packing light with just my tote bag and a small carry on. (Fingers crossed!) I find that with the lack of planning that is usually done, I end up with a big bag full of clothes that can't be worn with anything! Can you relate? Here are a few things that I am bringing that I think will allow for a successful pack!

 

 

I'm finding that a one piece ensemble is a great way to minimize on your packing (not sure why I've never thought of this?!) so I will be including one long sleeve maxi dress that can be worn with the ONE black jacket I will be bringing. I also plan on packing a little one piece jumpsuit that can be paired with that same jacket (A good dinner outfit). Throwing a couple basic bottoms with a few tops, and scarves that can be layered (for daytime). A pair of heels, plus a pair of comfy booties and I think I am set? I will let you know how I do!
